NSPCC - Be Share Aware

The NSPCC invited Beyond to help design and develop an online information hub for parents to learn more about the various social media platforms their kids use.

The Build

Django was used as the CMS to provide a single source of content for both the Web and Mobile apps. The Mobile app was developed using the Ionic Framework, an open source UI toolkit for creating Hybrid apps. The UI was developed using Angular and SCSS.

My Role

• Initially provided Front End oversight.
• Later, taking over as Lead Developer for the second phase which was a redesign/rebuild of the app.
• I also played a large role in Beyond being awarded this project, originally proposing the idea of a Hybrid app to Beyond’s General Manager and expressing a desire for us to take on more Mobile App work. What followed was a mutual agreement with the client to get the training the team needed to skill up before commencing work on the app itself.

Results

• 90% of those who installed the app actively use it
• 450 unique sessions within the first hour
• 40k users in the first month
